How to use it

The color scheme generator shows you 21 colors at a time. Use it to find a set of colors that work well together:

Look at the paletteA random palette is shown when the page opens. Choose Refresh palette for a new one.
Search by colorType a color name such as red or teal, or pick one of the quick color buttons, to see a palette of that color.
Use your own colorType a hex code such as #ba6400 to get shades of it, its neighbours on the color wheel, and shades of its opposite.
Copy a colorSelect any color to copy its hex code to the clipboard.
Copy them allUse Copy all to copy every code in the palette, one per line.

Random palettes are not matched to each other, so refresh a few times and pick out the colors you like.

Frequently asked questions

How are the palettes made?

The random palette picks 21 colors at random. Color names show a hand-picked list of shades of that color. A hex code gives 7 shades of your color, 7 colors next to it on the color wheel, and 7 shades of the opposite color.

Which color formats can I search with?

Basic color names (such as red, blue, teal, gold or grey), hex codes with or without the #, short codes such as #b60, rgb(186, 100, 0) and hsl(32, 100%, 36%).

Can I use these colors on my website?

Yes. Colors cannot be owned, so you can use any of the codes in your own projects.

Are my searches stored or sent anywhere?

No. Everything is worked out in your browser.
