It's useful for comparing document revisions, checking code changes, reviewing updated content, or spotting differences between two versions of a file. Comparison happens entirely in your browser.

Line-by-line

This tool compares whole lines, not individual characters within a line.

Order matters

A moved block of text shows up as a removal in one place and an addition in another.

Frequently asked questions

What do the colors mean?

Red lines, marked with −, only appear in the Original text. Green lines, marked with +, only appear in the Changed text. Lines with no highlight are identical in both.

Does this compare whole files or just text?

Just text — paste the contents of two files, two versions of a paragraph, or any other text you want to compare.

Why does one small change show as a whole line removed and added?

This tool compares entire lines rather than individual words or characters, so changing even one character inside a line shows that line as removed from the original and added in the changed version.

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. The comparison runs locally in your browser.
