GenerateIt

Random Number Generator

Need a random number for a prize draw, statistical sample, game, or to settle a tie? This tool lets you generate random whole numbers or decimals between any minimum and maximum values you choose. Whether you need a single number or several results, you can customise the range and generate numbers quickly and easily, right in your browser.

Everything runs locally in your browser using the Web Crypto API, so no data is sent to a server. Each generation produces fresh results, making it easy to get random numbers whenever you need them.

Random Number Generator

Numbers are generated in your browser using crypto.getRandomValues and never sent to a server.

How to use it

The random number generator picks random whole numbers or decimals between any two values you set.

  1. Set your rangeEnter a minimum and maximum value. The maximum must be greater than the minimum.
  2. Choose how manyEnter how many numbers you want generated at once.
  3. Optional settingsTick 'Allow decimals' for non-whole numbers, and set how many decimal places to use. Tick 'No duplicates' if every number in the result needs to be different.
  4. GenerateClick 'Generate' to get your numbers, then 'Copy results' to copy them all at once.

Good to know

Nothing is uploaded

Every number is generated in your browser — nothing is sent to a server.

Cryptographically random

Numbers come from crypto.getRandomValues, the same source browsers use for things like security tokens, rather than the weaker Math.random.

'No duplicates' needs enough room

If you ask for more unique numbers than fit in your range (for whole numbers, that's max − min + 1), the tool will tell you rather than guessing.

Frequently asked questions

Can the minimum and maximum be negative?

Yes. Enter negative numbers for either field, as long as the maximum is still greater than the minimum.

How many numbers can I generate at once?

Up to 10,000 in a single batch.

What happens with 'No duplicates' and decimals?

Uniqueness is checked at your chosen number of decimal places — for example with 2 decimal places, 4.50 and 4.501 count as different numbers, but two results that both round to 4.50 would not both appear.

Is this truly random?

It uses your browser's cryptographically secure random number source, which is suitable for draws, giveaways, sampling and games. It's not intended for generating cryptographic keys or secrets itself.
